Alki Beach Construction Noise Project

The challenge was to reduce construction noise in the adjacent community during the Alki Beach Sewage Pumping Station upgrade project in Seattle.

Argosy Acoustics Inc. installed noise barriers for a sewer project located on the beach in a quiet residential neighborhood in Seattle, WA.  As an added major challenge, it is on a busy residential waterfront city street where the community is involved with automobile noise from cruising and general city noise.

Noise levels at the diesel pump were 95-100 db and on the other side of the barrier only 20 feet away, were 70 to 72 db. If  the ambient on the street side from traffic is also 70 to 72 dB then most of the noise was gone.

We used both the the Hi-Rez Veil and Lo-Rez Veil to absorb and block very broad band noise spectrum. This was the first use of the Lo-Rez Veil. It was very effective.

This project is completed and the property area restored, and the noise levels during construction reduced to comfortable levels for the community.
