I-5 Freeway Pavement Noise Test
Argosy Acoustics development test project for testing Argosy Veil Panels' effectiveness in reducing tire pavement noise
The Veil Array was designed to mitigate tire//pavement noise at the edge of the roadbed where the sound is most intense. and both block and absorb sound before it gets into the adjacent neighborhoods.
We were also testing for use as acoustic Bridge Railings, which are in a location where they can easily mitigate tire/ pavement noise on a bridge. The Veil panels permit gaps They will still block sound, but still allow the passage of air. With other more conventional barriers, the build up of air pressure from solid sides could force redesign of the bridge's supporting structure
The formal results of the Veil Array test will not be available until the Veil is tested in our new Argosy Test Lab here in Seattle. A very noticeable added benefit was the improvement of sound quality through the mitigation of tire/pavement noise. We also eliminated some nasty frequencies and are remixing others through a "tuning" process.
We will be testing the Veil in our Lab also as an Acoustic Guardrail. DOT's in some states have expressed an interest in using the Veil as an Acoustic Guardrail. This represents a major new market for Argosy Acoustics !
The Veil is designed to crush under accidental crash impacts and has been proposed as a safe acoustic Guard-rail. This is a major safety advantage of the veil acoustic guardrail and has several options for use depending on local or federal laws.
