About Argosy Acoustics Innovations
Argosy Acoustics Innovations; has its main office in the State of Washington, with headquarters in Seattle. We deal with many noise problems in the Communities, Highways, Construction, nationally and internationally. Our second branch is in Hawaii, on the island of Kauai, servicing the Pacific Rim and Alaska. We are an acoustic product development, sales company providing noise control products for community noise, building interiors, hotels, restaurants, sports bars, to name just a few.
We use several test labs located around the country, this allows us to diagnose many noise problems, from local, to around the world. Our test procedures are based on insertion loss techniques produces with data directly usable for accurate noise loss predictions. All that may be required for a test is a recording or just communicating the noise problems, at the site, with information on spatial requirements.
We deal with indoor and outdoor noise and use market needs as the impetus for our research. We specialize in the mitigation of noise problems considered not easily solved with standard noise control products. We research special noise problems such as low frequency noise, noise with vibration, pure tones, etc. We use as many sound control techniques in our solutions as available to do the job.
We do not use a “one size fits all” philosophy and remain there to help now and in the future. Our indoor products reduce ambient sound levels and “tune” at the same time to enhance voice clarity in public rooms. Our highway barriers are specially designed to mitigate tire/pavement noise; our Lo-Rez Veil™ panels are “tuned” for mitigating low frequency noise from 250 Hz. down. Our Dolce™ Acoustics Art interior panels combine fine art and noise control as well as “tune’ the room. Many times uncovering or correcting a basic room noise or echo can also uncover other noise that was from a second source or masked by such things as HVAC noise. This can be treated several ways once it is found. We also make recommendations of ways to not only deal with the noise but ways to reduce operating cost and ease of maintenance.
Let us help to find these troublesome noises, frequencies, reduce maintenance, cut costs and other problems and to assist you, so you will have a "Quiet Solution for a Noisy World."
History
Argosy Acoustics; was founded in 2005 when senior Staff Chief Engineer, Clark Dodge and Vessel Design Engineer, Jack Starbird decided to expand the use off the technology gained during the silencing of the Jumbo Mark II Class vessels for Washington State Ferries, plus ships, tankers and many companies across the country from highways and buildings. The Mark II ship program was highly successful with ambient sound levels of 115 dBA in the main engine rooms and reduced it to below 68 dBA in adjacent control spaces. Is 115 dBA very loud you may ask? The answer is a resounding yes, and in today’s world, personnel are prohibited from even being subjected to such high noise levels. Noise at these high rates are dangerous and even painful! New rules for employees prohibit personnel from being subjected to these high noise levels with many requiring companies to treat high noise areas. We can do it in the design and development stages, as we knew and use the rules and regulations, so contact us early to help with your project.
Our company was built on the fact that our products use some different physics than many other noise control products. The “Veil” phenomenon could not be tested in normal reverberation chambers, as it is a pressure wave produced by diffracted sound. These tests were not wasted, as they showed several ways that sound travels and can cause unwanted conditions or allow unwanted noise to distribute through the affected areas. Our tests in Hawaii and other applications resulted in development of the Lo-Rez panels for mitigating "Low frequency," sound. Other tests addressed the profound effect of absorption and noise conditioning or changing things like tire/pavement noise. In some applications it absorbs it and others treat it or changes it so it’s no longer the same problem.
Our interior panels like, Dolce™ and HearClear™ tested very high too. Do the panels work very well? Yes, they reduced sound levels and improved voice and music clarity in several applications. (See out Dolce' page.)
We have made some company changes, by including people, in sales, design, construction and management,. These people bring order to the company with links to many other business connections, to make us a better company. Argosy Acoustics uses many test labs to evaluate the panels and applications. Constructed with several options, to allow testing the panels that we use for the applied projects. This type of testing simply proves a product in the lab and gives us the levels to deal with projects in the planning stages. Products tested in a lab must be applied in the field to deal with field projects and you can't move a plant or project into a lab. It presents a paradigm shift in the way acoustic products are tested and applied.
We aquired many business contacts with their opportunities to introduce sell our product lines. We spent a number of years developing essential friends, contacts and acquaintances in the continental United States and in Hawaii. Most of these opportunities are to help introduce and address noise problems, with many sounds and unwanted frequencies still there, yet become present as we reduce the sound layers. We are watching corporation events, money and spending is now changing across the nation with many things moving in the positive direction.
Now many of our products have been prototyped, tested with our business systems in place, specialized markets opening up, so we are ready to proceed with our major projects locally, nationally, internationally along with Hawaii and the Pacific Rim.
